Sustainable Development Goals
The Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all the Member States of the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and guarantee peace and prosperity for all people by 2030.

The Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all the Member States of the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to end poverty, protect the planet, and guarantee peace and prosperity for all people by 2030.
The SDGs are integrated, as they recognize that interventions in one area will affect the results in another and that development must balance environmental, economic, and social sustainability.
At Vantaz, part of our business vision is to contribute social value to diverse communities and people who need it, through selfless, collaborative actions that move us deeply. We are aware that we are part of a larger whole, we want a better world, and we are convinced that we can make a difference.
Although we already have a history in diverse lines of action, in 2021, we have selected these five SDGs to work on:
• SDG 5: Gender Equality. At Vantaz, we have a plan to increase the levels of female participation in our company. Today this number is 35% at Vantaz and over 40% at Parnés. In addition, we have been working to contribute to the ecosystem with key information to increase the inclusion of women in mining. We have undertaken three studies, two of which we conducted with WIM (Women in Mining Chile) and a third one with RIM (Red de Ingenieras en Mina, Network of Women Engineers in Mining). These studies set out to explain the characteristics of women in mining and their main obstacles to greater inclusion and career development.
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. At Vantaz, we have a plan to contribute to each community where we operate. We are a group of professionals who have been engaged in the city of Santiago for years now (through our participation in improving parks and visiting low-income children’s shelters). In Antofagasta and Choapa Valley, we also have professionals from the Vantaz Group who work for their community. Our sustainability plan also has activities for engagement and assistance in areas near mine operations in Peru and Australia. We are also conducting a comparative study on mining districts -at our expense- in Chile, Peru, Australia, and other countries to identify key aspects that strengthen certain cities close to mine operations.
• SDG 13: Climate Action. At Vantaz, we have a specific plan for reducing our carbon footprint (significantly reducing air or vehicle travel and increasing remote work). We are also starting to implement Betterfly, an application that measures the physical activity of our employees and rewards the healthy habits of our team members through social donations.
• SDG 2-3: Zero Hunger – Health and Welfare. We have a longstanding tradition of donating food, computer equipment, and medical supplies to those in need. In 2021, our plan includes long-term solutions through education, promoting water conservation in sectors with water scarcity to make it possible to sow and grow crops.
