Vantaz Group organizes meeting to discuss mining and its future role in Chile
This meeting involved the participation of the former Chilean Finance Minister, Andrés Velasco, currently the Dean of the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE).

In the framework of its 20th anniversary celebration, the mining consulting company, Vantaz Group, organized a meeting (with all the necessary security measures) to discuss mining and its role in the future of Chile. At this event, representatives from the sector, universities, and the business community analysed the contribution of mining to the development of the country and the challenges in relation to issues such as the pandemic, the environment, innovation, collaboration with other industries, diversification of the export matrix, and community engagement, among others.
The keynote speaker was Andrés Velasco, former Finance Minister and current Dean of the School of Public Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), who highlighted the resilience of local mining in the face of the economic and sanitary crisis. However, he added that the recovery of mining activity would be highly volatile. He also urged the mining industry to work to make the country proud of its contribution to development, “because you can do things better than in other parts of the world, in a way that is clean, inclusive, and respectful of communities”.
