According to the results of the survey - answered by 168 senior executives from the mining and other related sectors - in the breakdown, the perception for the social environment is more negative, compared to a favorable outlook for mining.
A pessimistic perception of the general stage in the short term, but with a tendency to improve in the next 12 months, is one of the main conclusions of the first Mining Signals study, prepared by the Center for Copper and Mining Studies, Cesco, and the mining consultancy Vantaz Group. The report also reflects that expectations for the mining industry, in particular, are more favorable compared to the current outlook.
The "Mining Signals Index" -presented this Wednesday as part of Cesco Week 2021 and which is intended to be carried out periodically twice a year- seeks to gather the perception of executives and representatives of the mining industry, as well as other sectors (financial, academic) on three major dimensions:
• Country macro-variables: Perception of the current and 12-month projection of the social, global economic, regulatory and environmental situation.
• General industry situation: Expectations for copper prices, demand, production, value of strategic inputs, employment and investment, with 3-month and 12-month projections.
• Challenges of the mining industry: Elaboration of a ranking on the main challenges of the Mining Industry.
