The Vantaz Group does not stop. In addition to the recent opening of its offices in Canada - which adds to its presence in Chile, Australia and Peru - it adds the opening of a new subsidiary, headed by Reyes Piani, which will be in charge of integrating data analytics, data mining and AI solutions for mining processes.
After more than thirty years of experience in global companies such as ExxonMobil, BHP Billiton, KGHM, Barrick Gold and Codelco, leading and transforming processes to improve productivity and sustainability in mining, Ricardo Reyes Pieni joins Vantaz Group with a team of professionals with a strong focus on physics, mathematics and expertise in data engineering and AI.
Regarding this new challenge, Reyes emphasized that "the challenge is challenging and the goal is ambitious, which at the same time motivates us a lot. We hope to position Vantaz Analytics as the natural choice for mining companies looking for effective support, made in Chile but applied to global mining operations".
Mauro Mezzano, Partner and Co-CEO of Vantaz Group, added: "We are very pleased to welcome Ricardo. With more than three decades of experience in the mining sector, he stands out for his professional excellence and his constant work in driving significant improvements in productivity and sustainability in the industry. His arrival undoubtedly strengthens our commitment to the technological transformation of mining in Chile and around the world.
Currently Vantaz Analytics already has its first digital products. An application oriented to the “traceability of repairable components”, with mining safety observations in the field and intelligent reading applications of failure patterns, especially focused on monitoring for maintenance prediction.
A new team, but with a wealth of experience
Developing disruptive and effective technologies for mining is no easy task. To that end, Alejandro Martínez, who holds a Ph.D. in mathematics from Oxford University, and astronomer and computational biologist Felipe Castillo Torrejón will work with Reyes. "Expectations are high, it is a very special opportunity for us and for Chile. We will create a union between those who come with a strong academic background and those who come from the mining industry, which is the main industry in our country," said Martínez, Technology and Operations Leader at Vantaz Analytics.
The team is currently working on developing new digital solutions that focus on addressing relevant issues in mining sites such as traceability, reporting, safety and maintenance of repairable assets, but through simple, agile and easy to use solutions in the field.
