A greener, more sustainable and safer mining industry

A greener, more sustainable and safer mining industry

From our sustainability area we have the conviction of being a contribution to the mining industry, its people and its territories.

At Vantaz Group we are aware that mining must continue its development path hand in hand with innovation and sustainability. For this reason, for some years now, we have defined our work through three fundamental lines of consulting for today and tomorrow of the sector: technology, productivity and sustainability.

In this last line, our team, led by Juan Cariamo, partner, and Vanessa Collao, senior manager, work to address the entire chain of key aspects to ensure the sustainability of an operation: Health, Safety, Environment and Communities, providing consulting, strategies and support to our clients with our unique way of doing things.

In conjunction with our client's business, Vantaz advises on the implementation of risk models, management strategies for safety and incident reporting. For health issues, we have a technical team that establishes baselines and implements hygiene standards to prevent occupational diseases.

In the environmental area, we develop strategies and formulate environmental management programs to identify, control and report regulatory and operational risks with environmental consequences.

Finally, together with our clients, we develop social management strategies focused on communities, and we propose project management models and social investment initiatives, derived from agreements with the community.

In relation to this, beyond providing a service, from our sustainability area we have the conviction of being a contribution to the mining industry, its people and its territories; for example, contributing to the fight against climate change, providing solutions for energy transition and decarbonization at the sites, or contributing to the better management of water resources, through our consulting for desalination projects.

Another issue that motivates us is creating value in the territories, improving the relationship of mining companies with the communities and their environment, and developing sustainable projects. In this sense, "we develop and implement strategies in the mining market that lead companies to have 'zero harm' in health and safety, maximum foresight and control in their environmental commitments, in addition to promoting mitigation solutions and others that promote the development of the communities in which they are inserted," says Juan Cariamo.

To achieve all of this, the Sustainability Department is made up of a team that works in the field, hand in hand with the client, to learn about their reality, their challenges and their concerns. This has allowed us to accompany them from a more strategic point of view, but also from a more human one, which is undoubtedly the essence of our Vantáztico label. We are very proud of the evolution of this line of business and of the contribution that our work can make to a greener, more sustainable and safer mining for Chile and the world.
